What's New in 12.2 - Bob Mackowiak, Oracle Corp.

Oracle 12c has been the most rapidly adopted database release in over a decade. This has been attributed to a number of things, including the amount of involvement of the user community (and IOUG in particular) in pre-release Beta testing. Regardless of the why, 12c has had a higher adoption rate and lower bug rate than we have seen in the past. Now the much anticipated 12c Release 2 is available. It was the first release in Oracle's "Cloud First" deployment strategy, meaning that today it is only available in the Oracle Cloud. We are expecting Linux downloads to become available sometime in early 2017.

In the meantime, I'm sure you have been asking "What's new in 12.2?" This month, Bob Mackowiak will be joining us from Oracle's Database team to answer that very question. Bob will share a technical introduction to all that's new in 12.2.

Robert "Bob" Mackowiak is a Senior Principal Technologist with the Platform Technology Solutions team within Oracle Server Technologies. Oracle's Server Technologies is the development organization responsible for the Oracle Database. The focus of PTS is to facilitate partner adoption of Oracle's database technology stack.

Robert joined Oracle Corporation in 1995 and has worked closely with Oracle partners, including ISV's, SI's, VAR's, hardware vendors, and their customers. He has provided technical assistance in the areas of: architecture and design review services, performance tuning and benchmarking, proof of concepts, Oracle migrations, beta program, education, and other forms of detailed technical support.

Prior to joining Oracle, Robert held software development and support positions at General Electric, Informix Software, and Sequoia Systems.
