Snowflake - Kent Graziano

Ever wonder what the guys who were responsible for some of the greatest advances in the Oracle Optimizer are up to today? One word: Snowflake.

Benoit Dageville was the Lead Architect for Parallel Execution in Oracle RAC for over 15 years. Thierry Cruanes led Oracle's Optimization Group for 13 years, focused on parallelization and optimization. Both PhD's with a multitude of patents, along with Vectorwise's Marin Zukowski, they formed Snowflake Computing in 2012 to push the envelope in datawarehousing technology. They set out to build the world's first hyper-scalable datawarehouse built from the ground up to leverage cloud architecture.

This month, Snowflake Computing's Chief Technical Evangelist and Sr Director Customer Advisory Solutions, Kent Graziano, will be joining us to tell us how they did it. Kent will bring us up to speed on Snowflake and explain how it uses the same ANSI SQL you are used to, but leverages a completely new architecture to deliver the performance, simplicity, concurrency, and affordability to handle today's and tomorrow's data and analytics needs.

Kent Graziano is the Chief Technical Evangelist and Sr Director Customer Advisory Solutions for Snowflake Computing. He is an award winning author, speaker, and trainer, in the areas of data modeling, data architecture, and data warehousing.
