Data Warehousing with Apache Hadoop - Jordan Volz, Cloudera

The database landscape is evolving rapidly these days. Database professionals are increasingly being encouraged by development teams and leadership to utilize the Open Source alternatives to traditional RDBMS systems. NoSQL, Key-Value stores, Document databases, Hadoop, etc. are the buzzwords of the day. Does this mean the traditional RDBMS's are at thing of the past? Not by a long shot! I would encourage you to look at all of these new technologies as additional tools in your arsenal to solve the business problems that you are presented with on a daily basis.

One of the most popular implementations of Apache Hadoop is Cloudera Enterprise. Cloudera's Jordan Volz will be joining us this month to help explain how this new technology can be leveraged for many exciting applications. Jordan will start with an overview of the Hadoop ecosystem and discuss some of the more popular use cases. From there he will move to an in depth discussion of how Hadoop can be used to help augment data warehouses and speed up analytics. He will also demo some recent tooling available from Cloudera that can assist in data warehouse optimization.

Jordan Volz is a Systems Engineer from Cloudera's New York office, where he has been helping Fortune 500 companies design and build their Big Data architectures using Cloudera, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, HBase, etc.
