Oracle Database Firewall - Greg Allen, Oracle Corp.

This month we will be hearing about Oracle's Database Firewall.

Database Firewall is the first line of defense for both Oracle and non-Oracle databases. It monitors database activity on the network to help prevent unauthorized access, SQL injections, privilege or role escalation, and other external and internal attacks - all in real time. It also has the ability to intercept in-flight SQL statements and re-write their predicates based on rules you configure.

This all sounds very similar to some of the features of that fascinating SQL*Net Proxy product that Peter Dobler presented to our group last year. I will be very interested to hear what Oracle has come up with along those same lines.

I'm sure many of you have met Greg Allen at some of the local Oracle Security events. Greg has been helping companies with their IT and security needs for 20 years. For the last five years, he has been an Identity Management and DB Security Software Consultant with Oracle based in their Orlando office.
