SOUG Spring TechDay 2009

This month we have another special event in our SOUG TechDay series. We will be holding a full-day
single-track event. We are honored to have Tom Kyte as our featured keynote speaker.

The agenda will be as follows:

8:30-9am	Registration
9-10am	Dave's Top Things - David Bayard, Oracle Corp. Top Oracle Things that are free, easy, and/or valuable that you might not know about.
10-11am	Wait-Time Based Performance Management - Dallas Deeds, Nationwide speaking for Confio There are many ways to use Oracle wait events for performance tuning, but often there is confusion on exactly what the data means. The wait event data may be analyzed at the wrong level or not detailed enough. Dallas will focus on these problems and review several real-life case studies using wait event data coupled with Wait-Time based performance analysis to solve the most difficult performance related issues.
11-noon	Two-Minute Drill - hosted by Chuck Egerter, Eagle Business Solutions With a nod to ESPN's popular segment, join our panel of Oracle guru's as Chuck puts them thru the Two-Minute Drill, Oracle-style.
noon-1pm	Lunch - progressive Italian fare courtesy of our friends at The Laughing Cat
1-2pm	The Best Way - Tom Kyte, Oracle Corp. Today there are many ways to do the same thing - sometimes it seems there are an infinite number of ways to accomplish something via software. Oracle's "Ask Tom" technology expert, columnist, and author takes a look at best practices, rules of thumb, and frameworks and discusses their promise and their shortcomings. Gain insights on what developers have done in the past and how that forms the basis for how they will do things going forward - which is both good and bad.
2-3pm	AskTom Live! Now is your chance to ask your questions, without that pesky need to type them into the AskTom webpage.
3-3:30pm	Closing Remarks and Door Prises

Vendor area will be open from 10am-2pm as well.

The meeting will be held in the Student Services building (113 on this map) on the Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry campus
