Database Compliancy 101 - Tom Roach

SOUG Past President Tom Roach will be providing a practical presentation to guide you on how to meet your compliance requirements using Oracle's built-in features.

Sarbannes Oxley, HIPAA, PCI, and Consumer Privacy Acts have made the jobs of developers, DBAs, and managers much more difficult. Find out how to become secure and compliant without crippling your database or applications. So what will be covered? We can spend a lot of time talking about securing a database. Rather than bore you with best practices speak, I will attempt to focus on more of the advanced features in Oracle. We will discuss technologies such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Oracle Label Security (OLS), Virtual Private Databases (VPD), Enforcing Strong Passwords (via a logon trigger), Oracle Wallet Manager (OWM), DBMS_CRYPTO package, Fine Grained Auditing (FGA), and more.

Tom Roach is an Oracle DBA and has been working with Oracle since 2001. He has developed and administered Oracle 7, 8i, 9i, and 10g. He is also the past President of the Suncoast Oracle Users Group.
